I always felt the need for a program like this, as there is an increasing number of internet sites and services coming up everyday, each one of them needs registration and you have to remember a username and password for each on of them.
Sure the password also must be secure and very hard to guess. And if it is very hard to guess then for sure it is very hard to remember too, specially if some of these sites are not for regular use, some sites are only needed once in a while.
some people make it easier for themselves, they only use one password and they use it everywhere, easy but not efficient. if this password is known somehow, everything is lost, and you will have to have hard time changing the password for all these sites, your email and whatever. so what is the solution?
I didn’t like the idea of password managers, these programs that just keeps your password encrypted, and all you have to know is a single password of the program itself and then you have access to all these passwords. why?! for 2 reasons, first you may need to have access to these passwords in remote computers other than the one that have the program, second because may be you lose the files for any reason, (HDD format or virus) and you then cannot log easily to your site.
So the solution for me is to have a combination of the two approaches, to have a single password and in the same time to have different password for different sites without the need to remember them and without depending on putting them in some sort of a database.
The solution for me is a program now I am developing called Advanced Password generator, the idea is that you would have only one master word, you have to remember it, then using the program you can generate as many passwords as you can easily, without the need to remember them or even save them. all you have to do is entering your master word and then enter another keyword, let it be the URL of the site or your email, and the program will generate for you a new password. Also I put a chance that you might have many accounts in the same sites, so I also included the factor of username, so with each different username, you will have different password.
The program will have the ability to provide password of any length needed, 1 to 1000 characters, and with any level of complexity needed, combination of all or some of the following (Small letters, Capital letters, Numbers and Symbols). all the passwords are generated completely random, and cannot be regenerated unless you know the 3 keywords you are entering (all the 3 keywords are optional). which is practically impossible to guess for hackers.
Features of the Program:
- Completely random generation of passwords.
- You don’t have to remember the passwords, all you have to do is to enter the master word and keywords and then you will have your password again.
- No need for databases and files, there is no data to be saved. therefore no loss will occur.
- The program is very small. If you need your password in a different computer, all you have to do is to download the program or keep carrying it on your flash disk, no need for any kind of databases
- The program doesn’t need to save any files, so your passwords are completely safe from strangers.
- Easy to use interface.
- The program has the ability to remember the keywords and username, which are useless by themselves as long as the master word is unknown.
