Years ago, actually in 1997 I started my first web page, it was very
simple and limited, I started in a free hosting server I just designed
one or two pages and that’s it.
Later, when my developing skill in Visual Basic became some how mature,
I started to publish some of my programs on the internet, then I decided
I must have a decent web page, I believe that was on 1998. so I searched
for better free hosting servers and I found a few, I starting creating
my own HTML designed pages and my site became bigger with software
download pages and actually I was receiving good traffic, and I remember
that time I had a decent web address Tamersoft.cjb.net, nice hah ?! :D.
Then after I started my professional career I almost ignored programming
and also web development, and I was left with my web page on that free
server. Till it was for 2003 that I decided that I must have a web page
again, but this time I was aggressive, I rented a hosting space and this
domain that I am still currently use. And I developed a nice web site
with Front page and it was very nice one. And it lasted for 2 years, and
I was never happy about it, I wanted more and more.
On 2005 I had a bigger space (500 MB) and I started looking for more
advanced options, I started using CMS site builders, actually they make
your life easier and you can now free your mind from designing issues
and concentrate on the contents. I used PostNuke, Mambo and then this
nice WordPress.
I just had to play around and modify some CSS and few PHP codes to
customize the web pages to my needs, but it’s not a big deal compared to
the hard work they save and the great functions they give you. After I
am happy with how my site looks like, all I have to do is to start
posting some contents, which is not an easy work :(. But RSS saved me, I
can now get automatic new contents everyday in my site without any
effort.
You see how it is easy to create a new web page? And still also very
cheap, you can do a professional web page only with 30$ per year. Life
is easier now.
